This course is a practical application of language usage skills, emphasizing the improvement of writing, oral skills and protocol for effective business communication. Specifically, students will be introduced to techniques of formal letter writing such as format, content, appropriate language, style and tone. Students will also be sensitized about the use of non verbal communication, paying particular attention to what is appropriate for the business environment. This course is important given that the primary responsibility of employees is to communicate information. They ability to write clearly and correctly has always been an essential skill for the successful office worker. This is particularly relevant in today’s business environment given that technology has drastically changed the way and the extent to which business people communicate in writing.
