This course is meant to introduce students to the field of philosophy: its meaning and importance. It will examine the main branches of philosophy; and expose students to some of the more influential philosophers and their thoughts, as well as various philosophic movements: ancient and modern.

It is also meant to help students to examine the meaning of some key concepts and themes in philosophy. Finally, this course will invite students to reflect on their own "philosophy of life" in the light of different philosophical theories; and to critically and systematically examine and assess the impact of their beliefs, thinking, and attitudes on their own lives.
